CHARLOTTE — The LGBT Community Center of Charlotte (gaycharlotte.com) has announced it will begin offering new, expanded hours. In order to meet the need, the organization has issued a call for volunteers to help staff the building.
The center, located at the N.C. Music Factory, is currently open only limited hours five days a week. Tuesday through Thursday, the center is open 5-8 p.m. On weekends, the center is open 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
The group plans to soon extend their open sign to six days a week. The new plan will also include nearly all-day operation on Saturdays, with open hours 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to help staff the center during its new hours. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, answering phones and helping to set up various events and functions. A volunteer orientation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, noon, for those interested in helping staff the building.
The LGBT Center has also issued a call for volunteers at Pride Charlotte, slated for Aug. 27, and the annual White Party in September.
