GREENVILLE, S.C. — Elke Kennedy, mother of slain Sean Kennedy, pleaded for community assistance as South Carolina prison officials announced the date of her son’s killer’s parole hearing.

On Feb. 11, Stephen Andrew Moller will be granted a parole hearing to decide whether he will be released early from his active prison sentence. Further, his final release date was moved up from September 2009 to July 7, 2009. According to Kennedy, the early final release was set due to Moller’s “good behavior” and for receiving a G.E.D.

“Now more than ever we need your help,” an email announcement from Kennedy’s foundation, Sean’s Last Wish, read on Sunday. Kennedy is continuing to ask community members to send letters against Moller’s release to the South Carolina Parole Review Board. She says letters received after Jan. 23 will not be read.

The parole hearing is set for Feb. 11, 9 a.m., at 2221 Devine St. in Columbia. The meeting is open to the public.

Letters can be written to the address below. If community members write letters, they are encouraged to let Kennedy know and, if possible, send a copy. Kennedy can be contacted via elke@seanslastwish.org.

To write a letter: Include Moller’s name and inmate number (Stephen Andrew Moller – SCDC ID # 00328891) and send to:

Department of Probation Pardon and Parole Services
2221 Devine Street, Suite 600, PO Box 50666
Columbia SC 29250
