About two dozen people came out to the LGBT Community Center of Charlotte on Tuesday evening for the Charlotte Business Guild’s monthly dinner meeting. Last night’s guest speaker was local activist and Charlotte in 2012 Democratic National Convention Host Committee Project Manager Scott Bishop.
Bishop spoke about his journey from former Bank of America employee to his current job with Charlotte in 2012, as well as his experiences working for a variety of community causes, including the Human Rights Campaign and Mecklenburg LGBT Political Action Committee (MeckPAC).
The Guild’s next monthly dinner meeting will be held on July 17. Openly gay immigration law judge and Guild member Barry Pettinato will speak on President Barack Obama’s new immigration policies and give an update on LGBT asylum and other issues related to the Defense of Marriage Act.
