HIV testing dates set
HICKORY, N.C. — ALFA is celebrating National HIV Testing Day, June 27 by offering a number of locations to get tested.
Locations and times include:
June 23, Club Cabaret, 101 N. Center St., 11 p.m.-1 a.m.
June 26, Good Samaritan Clinic, 304 W. Union St. #E, 4-7 p.m., Morganton
June 26, Sunny Valley Resource Center, 98 3rd Ave., 1-4 p.m.
June 27, Valley Hills Mall Health First Center, 1120 Fairgrove Church Rd. SE, Suite 28, 1-5 p.m.
June 28, Exodus Homes, 122 8th Ave. Dr. SW, 6:30-9 p.m.
Regular office testing hours are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at 1120 Fairgrove Church Rd. SE, Suite 28.
The National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA) started HIV Testing Day in 1995. Every year local organizations across the nation engage with communities to promote early diagnosis and HIV-testing.

Women’s group forms
WEAVERVILLE, N.C. — WEAVE, a woman’s social group, provides a place for developing lasting and loving friendships among LGBT women, including some straight women as well, of “like-mindedness while living, working, adventuring, vacationing and being in the North Buncombe and surrounding area(s).”
Their motto is “Women Weaving Friendships.” They meet on the first Monday of the month around 6:30 p.m. at various restaurants.
Women who express kindness will be included. If those qualities are not adhered to, then removal from the groups email list will ensue. Also, no men are allowed at the gatherings.
