GREENVILLE, S.C. — General Electric’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Ally Alliance (GE GLBTA) chapter in the Upstate town has been recruited to sponsor the community stage for the Upstate Pride march and festival to be held on Sept. 22 in Spartanburg.
The Spartanburg Herald-Journal reported that the chapter had “committed $3,500 to sponsor the stage” according to Global Co-Chairman for GE GLBTA Alliance. The news source also said that Upstate Pride had raised $6,300 of its $11,000 event goal.
GE Greenville employs about 3,000 and is home to the largest gas turbine manufacturing plant in the world.
Alliance members obtain leadership opportunities and access to senior leadership, as well as community service.
Projections for attendance at this year’s event should be between 2,500 and 3,000.
