(It hasn’t been mentioned recently that BSA is the Mormon church’s official boys organization – the Salt Lake monster must be assuaged). It’s pretty obvious that there is dissension on the national board.

The irony of much of this is that most scouts are at an age when sexual orientation is totally unclear. Only the older ones will have much personal clarity. I know that some of my fellow scouts and leaders were gay, but sex was not the reason for being in Scouts. My lessons came from the other scouts and the leaders. The national office was irrelevant except for printing the handbooks and designing the badges.

It just chose to make itself more irrelevant.
