CHARLOTTE — The search for Charlotte’s hottest men began months ago at one of my favorite boutiques: Amy Pickard’s Revolve Upscale Mens Consignment Store. She joined Dan Mauney of Takeover Friday, Rodney Tucker and Ray Cline to produce the fourth “BRIEF: A Fete for Fashion” at eXtravaganza last Saturday. This year, the show expanded its beneficiary list by donating funds to both the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Regional AIDS Interfaith Network (RAIN).
Mauney and Cline wanted to include RAIN with this year’s event to help cover the gap created when the organization decided to no longer stage their annual Gay Bingo fundraiser. Both men had been active in helping to organize the popular fundraising event in the past.
The evening at BRIEF started with a cocktail hour where adorers of all sexualities mingled and anticipated the show. Twenty-three of the most beautiful bodies adorned the runway four times with a look for every season. Starting with spring, bright colors and cotton boxers and briefs by Polo Ralph Lauren were soft against the model’s hard bodies. Summer looks in sunglasses with beach balls featured bright colors and fun prints from brands like bask-it and Andrew Christian. The audience was definitely seduced by by the model’s energetic posing, killer smiles and bulging… biceps (I almost had you going, didn’t I? You’re welcome, honey).
Intermission started with a rose auction for your favorite model. The entertainment of the evening was a side-splitting performance by YouTube sensation Cubby. I never want see “Single Ladies” danced any other way that a cub bear in a unitard.
Fall and winter looks featured darker colors and killer outerwear. The winter furs were especially liked in contrast to the crisp white nether-garments for winter by Unico, Calvin Klein among others. All underwear was donated by the many vendors and brands featured in the show. Festivities continued to a packed-out after-party at Marigny Dance Club, who also donated a portion of the door to the event.
Calenders were given to the attendees and are now available to purchase online. You can visit briefafeteforfashion.org for availability and see these gorgeous men all year long. Proceeds from calendar sales will also benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and RAIN.
For more information about how to help the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, please visit cff.org. RAIN will be holding their yearly Dining With Friends event Oct. 6 in the homes of your friends and ending with a fabulous social at the McColl Center for Visual Art.
