Citizenship workshop slated

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Latin American Coalition will hold a free citizenship workshop later this month for those interested in and eligible for receiving U.S. citizenship.
The workshop, slated for Jan. 26, 9 a.m., is designed to assist eligible residents with completing their citizenship applications.
The event requires registration and space is limited. For details and registration, call 704-941-2547 or 1-888-839-8682.
One is eligible to apply for citizenship if: you have been a permanent resident for at least five years or if married to a a U.S. citizen and have been a permanent resident for at least three years. Applicants are also required to speak, write and read English at an intermediate level, with exceptions for those with a qualifying disability or those who are at least 50 or 55 years old and have been a permanent resident for 20 or 15 years, respectively.
