Campus Scene: Ally day big success
Updated: April 24, 2014 at 6:29 pm
RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina State University held its all-day, second annual Ally Day on April 9.
Over 200 students and employees, as well as visitors, created personal messages on whiteboards in support of LGBT students, while they posed in front of rainbow-decorated wolf statutes, The Technician reported.
The university’s College Democrats and the GLBT Center partnered last year on the event. Other local schools also hold similar events, including Appalachian State University, Wake Forest University and others.
Ben Stockdale, who serves as president of State’s College Democrats told The Technician that he contacted other campus’ chapters of College Democrats and gave them the idea to put on a similar event for themselves.
This year’s event was considered a success as the numbers of participants were five times that of the previous year.
