CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Local media responded early Thursday morning and yesterday evening with coverage on the attempted robbery and shooting suffered by longtime local gay bar owner Greg Brafford.
Brafford, 58, was shot at least two times outside of his home in the Sedgefield neighborhood during an attempted robbery. He suffered at least two bullet wounds, but is now in stable condition at a local hospital.
Police have not released descriptions or identities of any potential suspects, but say the incident is an active investigation.
Community members and patrons of Brafford’s bar, The Woodshed Lounge, have been speaking out with messages of support on Facebook and elsewhere. Many plan on visiting the bar tonight and through the weekend to show their support.
“Keep him in your thoughts and prayers to expedite his recovery,” bartender Mike Miller said on Facebook Thursday. “Please drop by the bar tonight or over the next few days if you want to show your support and appreciation for this man.”
Local news stations WSOC and NBC Charlotte responded to the incident with coverage of their own.
