The qnotes staff would like to send out a big, hearty welcome to our new editorial intern for this spring. Deaidre Newby, a resident of Sumter, S.C., will be working with the paper and writing online news pieces, blog posts and occasional features and articles for publication in our print editions.

Although Deaidre has never worked professionally on the staff of an LGBT publication, she is no stranger to LGBT news-media and the blogosphere. She has served as a freelance writer for QMocha Online Magazine, a fairly new, South Carolina-based online publication for the urban LGBT community.

We’re excited to work with Deaidre this spring. We hope our readers will enjoy her pieces and insight, get to know her and interact with her. You’ll start seeing some work published from Deaidre today.
