In the past, those living with HIV had to attend a support group, volunteer at an AIDS service organization, or join an activist organization to meet others like them. Online social networks are making it easier for a person with HIV to connect with, inform, and support their peers.

In 2007, Robert Breining recognized a need for HIV-positive people to interact with others who understood their pain and experience. As a result, he launched POZIAM, a free website where the poz community can post profiles, photos, use online chat, create blogs, access message board, etc. A unique feature on his site is a weekly internet online radio broadcast, hosted by Breining, Charlottean Jeromy Dunn and former “Project Runway” star Jack Mackenroth.
