AIDS Leadership Foothills-area Alliance (ALFA) will partner with a host of community agencies on Dec. 1 in observance of World AIDS Day. Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams will be honored with the inaugural Legacy Award at ALFA’s Winter Gala on Dec. 5.

Republicans surged to power in the North Carolina House and Senate this month. The Senate stood to open its next session with 31 Republicans and 19 Democrats. A final count isn’t set for the House, but Republicans are expected to hold at least 67 or 68 seats out of that chamber’s 120.
