CHARLOTTE — Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners Chairman Jennifer Roberts will address via written statement a rally in Uptown tomorrow opposing a proposed, anti-LGBT state constitutional amendment.

Roberts’ message will be among several others, including  Equality North Carolina Director of Community Organizing Sam Parker, Human Rights Campaign Board of Governors member Scott Bishop and Unitarian Universalist Church of Charlotte Pastor James Leach.

A march begins at noon from 9th and N. Tryon Sts. and ends at Independence Square at Trade and Tryon Sts. The rally continues until 4 p.m.

Rally organizers have met weekly for the past few weeks to solidify plans for the event. Lead organizer Jeff Enochs has said he hopes to attract as many as 500 community members to the event. As of Friday morning, a Facebook event page showed nearly 400 “attending” RSVPs.
