HICKORY, N.C. — AIDS Leadership Foothills-area Alliance (ALFA) has announced that its current executive director, Rodney Tucker, will be leaving at the end of November after a two-year stint at the helm of the organization.

During his tenure, ALFA transitioned toward providing a new medical model, said Bill Morgan, president. “We will miss him, but we will continue in his legacy by providing superior HIV/AIDS services in our region,” he added.

ALFA is now conducting a national search for a replacement.

In the meantime, monetary contributions, food pantry donations, volunteerism, client adoption for the holidays and testing will continue to be on the top of ALFA’s needs.

In other news, ALFA will hold its 14th Annual Winter Gala on Dec. 4, 6 p.m., at Youssef 242, 242 11th Ave., NE. The Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams Legacy Award will be presented to community supporter Sue Millholland during the event. A four-course meal will be served with wine pairings, along with pre-dinner cocktails and holiday music. Cost is $100 per seat minimum contribution. RSVP is due by Nov. 28 via email to alfadev@alfainfo.org or by calling 828-322-1447, ext. 223.
