Organizers for the Democratic National Convention, to be held in Charlotte this September, recently published a short video profile of the local LGBT community, speaking with local advocate Scott Bishop on the night of his chat with the Charlotte Business Guild at the LGBT Community Center of Charlotte. Bishop serves as chair of the Mecklenburg LGBT Political Action Committee (MeckPAC) and is a project manager at the Charlotte in 2012 DNC Host Committee.
“Early on we saw the DNC as an opportunity to raise the visibility of the LGBT community in Charlotte,” Bishop says in the video. “We want people to know that Charlotte is a welcoming community. It’s a great place to come live and raise a family if you want to.”
See the video below, and here’s to hoping for more positive, in-depth coverage of our local LGBT community as the convention draws ever closer.
