The Campaign for Southern Equality, an Asheville, N.C.-based grassroots LGBT activism group, is gearing up for the next stage in its fight for full equality under federal law. In the past, the group has targeted marriage license offices and took a lead role in helping to organize Western North Carolina during the Amendment One fight. They’ve become well-known, statewide and nationally, for their series of sit-ins as same-sex couples applied for and were denied marriage licenses.
