Trees sales help foundation

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Fred & Dot Wagoner Christmas Trees, located at 2701 Lawndale Dr., will donate $5 from every sale of Christmas trees to the Guilford Green Foundation when purchasers spend more than $50 with them.

Trees are cut weekly and wreaths are made daily on site from fraser fir, magnolia, boxwood and leyland cypress. Additionally, there are designer bows, centerpiece arrangements, ivy topiaries and more.

Pride supports seniors

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Pride Winston-Salem has initiated a holiday Pride Gives Back campaign to collect much-needed items for Senior Services.

The stocking drive needs the following items to support seniors in the Triad area: adult pull-ups and diapers (all sizes, especially L, XL and XXL with no tabs); moisture lotion, toothpaste and toothbrushes, blue disposable bed pads (Chux or similar), washable bed pads, shampoo and conditioner, hand and bath soap, deodorant, adult wipes, Esure or Boost, canned chicken, tuna or salmon, canned fruit or fruit cups, peanut butter, cereal, Jell-O cups, sugar-free pudding cups, any non-perishable food items, laundry detergent, paper towels, diswashing liquid, household cleaning supplies, tissues and gift cards in any amount to  grocery, pharmacy, discount or department stores.

Drop off wish list items at Allen Tate Realtors, 147 S. Cherry St., Senior Services, 2895 Shorefair Dr., or any Piedmont Federal Savings Bank branch by Dec. 22.

Center hosts open house

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The North Star LGBT Community Center, 704 Brookstown Ave., will hold a holiday open house on Dec. 20 from 1-5 p.m.

Concert approaches

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A holiday concert, “The Christmas Spirit,” will be held on Dec. 22, 7 p.m., at Metropolitan Community Church Winston-Salem, 4105 Patsy Dr.

Musical talent comes from the Winston-Salem and Greensboro areas. They will present classical and commercial arrangements of popular carols.

A dessert social follows. Participants are asked to bring a favorite to share.

Dr. Tika Douthit, an instructor and assistant band director at Winston Salem State University, is helping to bring the tour to the church.

In other news, church goers will gather on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, for a family-style celebration. Enjoy singing Christmas carols, hear the biblical story of the birth of Jesus and celebrate communion in a less formal environment. A potluck will take place during worship.
