Triad: Rocky Horror, Adam Festival

Carolinas News Notes

It’s’ Time Warp’ time!

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Winston-Salem Theatre Alliance, 1047 Northwest Blvd., will bring “The Rocky Horror Show” to the stage this month, complete with audience participation.

Performances are at 8 p.m. on Oct. 23, 24, 28-31, 2 p.m. on Oct. 25 and a special midnight show at 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 31, just in time for Halloween.

Cascading toilet paper and an array of other audience-participation props help bring this rock and roll sci-fi gothic classic back in full form in this revival, including the classic “Time Warp.”

Just like during the movie version, callbacks are allowed and encouraged. There will also be prop kits available for sale, and patrons are allowed to bring their own props, as long as there is nothing biological — no water guns, open flames, hot dogs/toast/rice throwing — for the safety of the rest of the audience and the performers.

The Theatre Alliance production is directed by Jamie Lawson and musically directed by Chris Kiser. The cast features Gray Smith as Dr. Frank ‘N’ Furter, Seph Schonekas as Riff Raff, Suzanne Vaughan as Magenta, Cheri Van Loon as Columbia, Kaylee Gonzalez as Janet Weiss and John C. Wilson as Brad Majors.

Tickets are $18/adult and $16/senior (62+) and student and are available online. Groups of 10 or more can receive a $2 discount off ticketed prices. Call for details at 336-723-7777 for more information.

Student Rush tickets are also available for $14 before any performance. They go on sale five minutes before show time. Students must show current, valid student ID and wait in a standby line until five minutes to show time, at which point, available seating is released.  There is no reserved seating. Tickets must be purchased at the box office and are limit to one ticket per student and are subject to availability.
