Western: Family celebration observed

Carolinas News Notes

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville will open its doors to the community on June 11, 3 p.m., at 1 Edwin Pl., when it celebrates the “beauty and diversity” of families in the area with a special event.

Participants will be welcomed and affirmed, as LGBT families are supported.

Organizers shared, “Experience how a story can be used to guide and support children in their wondering, join in on the activities following the story and then stick around for an ice cream social where you can meet other families hoping to make connections.”

Do you provide a service for the community or hold fundraisers for worthy causes? Do you educate the public about LGBT issues or concerns? Of course, this is only a sampling of things we are interested in. It’s the aim of these pieces to inform, enlighten and educate our readers about what we’re doing here in the Carolinas to champion LGBT rights, as well as offer resources for those who may be interested in what your group is doing.
