MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Gregory M. Rousseau is engaged in his doctoral dissertation work at Capella University and is seeking participants.
The research, entitled “The Experiences of Successful Minority Executives: A Qualitative Approach,” examines the challenges faced by sexual minorities when making career choices. Many individuals face challenges when choosing a career path; however, sexual minorities often face additional challenges ranging from homophobia, stigmatism, discrimination and bias.
Rousseau will be recruiting those who identify as a sexual minority, are out to family friends and co-workers and hold a position within an organization that is considered senior management.
Participants will be interviewed in person. The age requirement is 35 or older to participate in the study. Anticipated projected start date is Oct. 31 and is expected to take one year.
Any data collected will be kept confidential. In accordance with Capella policy and best practices for ethical research, neither participants nor sites will be identified in any report of the researcher’s findings or in his published dissertation. He will provide a copy of the aggregate results from this study upon participant’s request.
Research will be overseen by faculty mentor Dr. Jay Avella.
