CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Actress, comedian, singer and self-described “professional lesbian” Lea DeLaria is in Charlotte and appears to have fallen in love with the city!
DeLaria appears to be in town for a Cars 3 event, the Disney film in which she voices “Miss Fritter.” The safe money is on the NASCAR Hall of Fame’s “Cars 3: Inspired by NASCAR” exhibit that opened Sept. 28 and runs through May 31, 2018.
She posted about Charlotte on Sept. 29, and again today.
DeLaria, best known for playing Big Boo on the Netflix series “Orange Is The New Black,” has made stops by Rat’s Nest to do some vintage clothes shopping, and Midwood Smokehouse to get her fill of the local cuisine.
She also found time to stop by The Thirsty Beaver, where she had a humorous interaction with a patron who set her up perfectly by asking, “Is this your first time at The Beaver?”
And when I walked up to this bar a girl asked, "Is this your first time at The Beaver?" … um… no. 😏#fuckyeahcharlotteNC pic.twitter.com/NlVIdyPioO

If you want a chance to spot DeLaria before she leaves town, if she hasn’t already, your best bet looks to be hanging out in Plaza Midwood and NoDa and hoping to get lucky.
She does not appear to have any planned public events or performances coming up in the area.
UPDATE: A spokesperson for the NASCAR Hall of Fame informed us that DeLaria “was in town with the Disney press junket associated with the Cars 3 in-home release,” but that “she wasn’t at our event.”
