WILMINGTON, N.C. — An Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign is under way to fund a documentary, “The Park View Project,” on Talana Quay Kreeger’s story so that larger audiences can learn about her tragic life, Encore reported.
Producer Tab Ballis is working to bring the important hate crimes story of what happened in Wilmington, N.C. in 1990 and the effects still felt there. So far, the film has been in production for 10 years and has yet to reach the screen.
Kreeger, a lesbian, was murdered by a truck driver in a horrific and gruesome way — disemboweling her manually and leaving her to bleed to death at the edge of a tree-lined field, Encore said. Friends found difficulty in locating a church that would host Kreeger’s funeral. Luckily, the Church of the Good Shepherd welcomed mourners. Afterward, some grieving friends were among those who founded St. Jude’s Metropolitan Community Church so that the community would have a place of welcome.
The complete story is available online, including an interview with Ballis.
