RALEIGH — The North Carolina Legislature heads back into session this year on May 12. When state House members and senators get to Raleigh, Equality North Carolina (ENC) will be geared up and ready to raise awareness on LGBT issues. On the group’s agenda this year, as in the past six years, is keeping the state’s constitution free of an anti-LGBT, anti-family marriage amendment.

The group also pans to keep our issues on the forefront of campaign trails in this year’s mid-term elections.

ENC staff today issued a challenge for its political action committee (PAC). Donors have pledged to match all donations up to $20,000. The funds will be used to endorse and support pro-equality candidates for state office. The ENC PAC hopes to raise and distribute $80,000 this year.

The challenge runs now through the group’s Legislative Reception on May 25, the same days as its annual “Day of Action” lobbying event.
