Turn an artsy eye tonight with the NoDa gallery crawl

Monthly neighborhood event held Friday, 6 p.m.-9:30 p.m.

Tonight, Friday, Feb. 18, the NoDa district will hold its bimonthly “Gallery Crawl” from 6 p.m-9:30 p.m. Unlike other tour-like art events, the nature of this gallery crawl is appropriate for the free-spirited flavor of the neighborhood — unrestricted movement and minimal structure makes this gallery crawl a fantastic opportunity for the Charlotte community to explore the fresh artistic scene, popular drinking spots, and delicious local restaurants.

Below are a few descriptions of the current featured talents to help guide your wanderings:

Green Rice Gallery
:: green-rice.com :: True to its dedication to “local, emerging artists”, the Green Rice Gallery is currently showcasing its 2nd annual “North to South Show – A Regional Competitive Exhibit of Artworks by the Artists of North and South Carolina.” This juried showcase will be judged by Susan Brenner, associate professor of art history at UNC-Charlotte.

Hart Witzen Gallery :: hartwitzengallery.com :: A beautiful gallery with blank walls, high ceilings, and simple architecture make this venue an ideal alternative art gallery scene.

Lark & Key :: larkandkey.com :: A gallery “celebrated for its diverse selection of paintings, mixed media, ceramics, jewelry and more”, Lark & Key is a gorgeous, warm, and inviting environment to enjoy during your NoDa explorations. Martique Lorray, a featured artist, is currently offering a beautiful exhibit dedicated to the concepts of burden and balance.

So make a night of it! Enjoy the dynamic visual art galleries, grab a bite to eat, and bring along some pleasant company. NoDa’s gallery crawl is a wonderful way to get in tune with the heartbeat of Charlotte’s artistic community. The next gallery crawl will be held on Friday, March 4.
