Word of Faith Fellowship, formerly accused of assault to expel “homosexual demons,” is alleged to have been importing worshipers from Brazil who are treated like slaves.
Gay former congregant Matthew Fenner of Word of Faith Fellowship in Spindale, N.C., alleges that he was accosted by dozens of church members on Jan. 27, 2013, beaten and abused for hours to expel the “homosexual demons” within him.
Sherrell Faulkner, a transgender native of Charlotte, died on May 16. Her death was the result of injuries sustained during an assault in Nov. of 2016. Faulkner is the 11th transgender homicide victim nationwide so far this year.
Brandon Ray Davis, 30, was arrested on March 1 by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Department with an extraditable warrant on hate crime charges. The incident occurred in downtown Key West and involved anti-gay slurs.
