QNotes’ 2019 Organization of the Year Brings the Community Together

Each year, qnotes selects a person or organization that is benefitting the LGBTQ community through service or by breaking down barriers in the region. This year, we chose The Charlotte Royals which was founded on the idea to foster a supportive environment where gay and bisexual men and their straight allies can learn and play the sport of rugby.

Pride event hits 200k attendance mark

Event welcomes mayor, first responders, organizations, companies and a bounty of LGBTQ community members and allies

Charlotte Pride Festival & Parade organizers have released estimates estimated attendance records for the Aug. 17-18 event. This year there were 200,000 that visited the two-day festival, topping the 2018 record of 165,000.

Brisa Ramirez is a member of the board for Charlotte Pride and an analyst at 25 Capital. Ramirez is one of the United States’ 600,000+ beneficiaries of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, an immigration policy that allows individuals brought to the U.S. as children to continue to live, work and gain an education in the country.
