In a country where discrimination remains widespread against LGBTQ people, G-Voice has offered much-needed community and has continued to offer a message of hope during the pandemic — one that is being repeated by choruses here in Charlotte.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer non-profits throughout Charlotte are constantly fundraising, but with COVID-19 these vital organizations are struggling to meet their budgets with canceled events, a plethora of grant opportunities and reduced individual support.
At a recent meeting of the LGBTQ Elders Steering Committee, co-chair Cindy Hostetler said, “Every LGBTQ organization today (in Charlotte, N.C.) ties back to Dan Kirsch.” Kirsch died suddenly on Friday, Feb. 21. He was 66.
This year, qnotes compiled a list of several organizations’ holiday wish lists. Readers are encouraged to contribute when appropriate to these groups whose work would be enhanced by contributions received.
It’s the season to be jolly, merry and gay. It’s also an important time of the year to support LGBTQ organizations who support the community in any way possible so that they can continue to offer the community vital services, solace and more.
Looking to fill your social calendar this weekend? Great news… you’ll have plenty to do and see all across the region.
