My father didn’t talk to me for three years. Not a sentence. Not a word. Not a syllable. Not a hello, good-bye, how are you? Not an “I love you” for 3 x 365 = 1,095 days. Life is very short, and three years is a huge chunk of time.
We recognize the gravity of this situation, and we apologize for using any image that may imply anything less than our full support and solidarity with the black community. We also stand with the current movement that we hope will bring about real change in our society.
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) celebrates 25 years of holding a fundraiser in the Carolinas on Feb. 22. The event, now called the North Carolina Dinner & Silent Auction, was started during a pivotal year for the organization.
When I accepted the role of executive director in April of 2019, it was with an intentional desire to shape the future of this organization and enable LGBTQ folks from all walks of life to truly see themselves in the future of the movement for equal rights and protections.
