You can’t beat a weekend in Saugatuck-Douglas in southwest Michigan. It’s the Midwest’s only gay resort area and just a short drive from Chicago, Detroit and many other cities. You can also fly into nearby Grand Rapids.
For the past few years, I’ve heard about a small town in Michigan known for its LGBTQ friendliness and charm. It wasn’t until I had the opportunity to visit Saugatuck and its neighboring town, Douglas that I got to experience it first-hand.
New York Attorney General Letitia James led a coalition of 21 attorneys general in filing an amicus brief with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, in support of a transgender student named Drew Adams, who is suing the St. Johns County School Board for discrimination.
