Organization Establishes Largest Contingency of LGBTQ People and Allies for People’s March and Rally

The HKonJ (Historic Thousands on Jones Street) will host its largest assembly of LGBTQ people and allies from throughout the state and across the nation for its Feb. 8 People’s Assembly March and Rally in Raleigh. The theme is 1000 STRONG.

Rev. William Barber steps down as NC NAACP leader

Barber will transition to leadership of the New Poor People's Campaign

A longtime leader of the progressive movement, Rev. Dr. William J. Barber of the NAACP of North Carolina will step down as leader of the state’s chapter to focus on a revival of Dr. King’s 1967-8 Poor People’s Campaign. The New Poor People’s Campaign under Rev. Barber will renew the spirit of “moral movement” and activism.

Moral March planned for Feb. 11

ACLU, NAACP, Planned Parenthood and other orgs unite to fight

After millions of people joined internationally for the Women’s March of Jan. 21, some activists seek to continue the progressive momentum. In North Carolina, this led to the rejuvenation of the Moral March on Raleigh, to hold its 11th annual installment on Feb. 11.
