Public opinion survey data released

The NC AIDS Action Network (NCAAN), Latino Commission on AIDS (LCA) and Southern AIDS Coalition released new results of a public opinion survey data from seven southern states showing strong support for public policies to combat HIV. NCAAN and LCA presented the results of the survey at the 10th International AIDS Society Conference on HIV Science in late July.

Guidelines released on providing PrEP through college health programs

The American College Health Association announced the release of its new guidelines, “HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis.” The guidelines serve as a roadmap for college health services seeking to provide PrEP as a means of preventing new HIV infections and as a resource to assist with front line implementation.

HIV-positive status up in 2018

In 2018, Palmetto Community Care (PCC) tested almost 1,700 people for HIV, recording 23 new HIV-positive cases. That number was up from 20 new HIV-positive cases in 2017.
