With more than hundreds of thousands of confirmed cases, the coronavirus (SARS-COV-2) continues spreading across the globe at an alarming rate. In an effort to find a solution to the COVID-19 pandemic, researchers are considering a number of existing medications in pursuit in finding both an effective treatment, as well as a prevention protocol.

But He Can’t Donate It — Yet

Melvin “Zuni” Johnson spent 48 hours in a Charlotte hospital battling pneumonia related to COVID-19 last month. His husband Jason McCraw had a milder case that only sidelined him for a few days. Both have valuable antibodies in their plasma, but the couple cannot donate because of U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rules on blood and plasma collection.
