The Movement Advancement Project (MAP) and Campaign for Southern Equality (CSE) have released “Telling a New Southern Story: LGBTQ Resilience, Resistance, and Leadership,” a new report examining the experiences and advocacy strategies of LGBTQ people in the U.S. South. The report was released in partnership with the Equality Federation.

AFFA responds to Stuckey murder

The Alliance for Full Acceptance (AFFA) has responded to the murder of Denali Berries Stuckey, a local transgender woman, on July 20. AFFA, Charleston Pride, We Are Family, Charleston Area Transgender Support, Charleston Black Pride, SC Equality and other community leaders organized a vigil in Stuckey’s memory on July 22 at the Equality Hub space.

There have been concerns about the treatment of transgender detainees in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities. Chin Tsui is one of those individuals and is currently being detained at the Irwin County Detention Center in Ocilla, Ga.
