PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Equality Forum will present the nation’s largest annual LGBT civil rights forum from April 30-May 6, with over 60 programs, parties and special events. Equality Forum 2007 celebrates the 15th anniversary of the organization, which has grown to become a national LGBT organization.

Kevin Ray, chair of the Board of Directors, commented, “We are proud to mark Equality Forum’s 15th anniversary. In the span of a decade and a half, the organization has grown from a local celebration to a national organization that highlights and interprets LGBT civil rights issues for both gay and straight audiences.”

At Equality Forum 2007, nearly 70 moderators and panelists, including Andrew Sullivan, Rep. Barney Frank and Dr. Renée Richards, will discuss topics like LGBT families, politics, religion, and health. In collaboration with the LGBT workplace groups of the United Nations, World Bank and European Union, the global LGBT civil rights movement will be featured in a number of special programs. Over 60 regional, national and international organizations have partnered with Equality Forum to present this year’s programming.

Gays and lesbians from across the country are expected to converge on historic Philadelphia for the annual Equality Forum, which kicks off April 30.

Special events include GALA Choruses’ 25th Anniversary Concert, the Third Annual National Interfaith Service and the Eighth Annual Art Exhibit. At the International Equality Dinner, Martina Navratilova will receive the 12th annual International Role Model Award and MAC Cosmetics will receive the Fifth Annual International Business Leadership Award. Several parties, including an outdoor barbeque and Blue Ball events, will be held throughout the week.

Equality Forum 2007 culminates with SundayOUT! in Old City Philadelphia with Pennsylvania’s largest LGBT street festival surrounded by art galleries, cafes, shops, festival vendors and the Independence National Historical Park.
