Mr. Gay USA awards crown

The first week-end in August, Mr. Gay USA was held at Club Cabaret in Hickory with 20-some handsome and talented contestants from across the country.

Apparently, there’s just something about a hot Latino man, because just as Orlando’s Ray Matthews, the Puerto Rican papi, relinquished his title, it was announced that Joey Rivera would hold the title for the next 365 days. Rivera makes Columbia, S.C., his home now, after having lived in the D.C. area for many years.

The Top 10 finalists were: Joey, his first runner-up Eric Rainbow, 2nd RU Curtis Ryan, 3rd Kevin Clopton, and 4th Curtis Anthony, followed by Damion Kelly, Rocky Graziano, Sebastian Armonte, Darryl Christian Carr and Jackson Roberts. Category winners are: Interview (tie) Curtis Ryan and Rocky Graziano; Talent, Eric Rainbow; and Swimsuit, Kevin Clopton.
